93 Wine Advocate
Sourced from the les Bedines lieu-dit and a blend of 90% Grenache and 10% Mourvèdre, the 2020 Chateauneuf du Pape Les Safres shows lovely purity of fruit, with cherries and raspberries chasing around in a crescendo of red fruit. It's medium to full-bodied, silky, fine and elegant, with a lingering finish.
Winemaker Note
This wine shows a bright cherry color with grenade reflections. The nose is very delicate, with aromas of red berries, fresh fig liquor and roasted plums. The mouth is elegant, extremely fine, with a superb density and sensation of soft tannins. We find aromas of blackberries, blueberries and licorice. A very elegant wine, well-balanced showing a high ageing potential.
