High Quality Gifts for Wine Lovers

Posted by Danielle Price on 8th Dec 2015

It probably comes as no surprise but I have a lot of wine lovers in my life and it gives me great pleasure to give them the perfect gift. If you have a wine lover in your life don’t stress below are my all-time favorite wine gifts which are all high quality, pragmatic gifts that are certain to be loved, well used and last for years to come.

#1 Coravin System

This is the hottest and trendiest wine accessory on the market and I was elated when I received one as a gift last year. The Coravin is a remarkable device that allows you to extract a glass or taste of wine from the bottle without ever having to pull the cork. A wafer thin needle penetrates the foil and cork extracting the wine into your glass, argon gas pressurizes the bottle and the cork reseals itself once the needle is removed returning the wine to its unopened state. This bottle will remain as fresh for weeks or years indistinguishable from unopened bottles. This gives you the opportunity to try many different wines at once for comparison purposes, enjoy just a glass of something sensational without waste and for collectors it gives you the opportunity to see if a wine is ready to drink or needs more time. Coravin is nothing short of amazing! $350 www.coravin.com

#2 Durand Wine Opener

This is a MUST HAVE wine opener for any collector who drinks older wines! The Durand is a patented device designed to effectively remove compromised and fragile corks whole and intact from older vintage wines. Too many great wines have been spoiled by fragile corks tainting the wine once it crumbles into the bottle. Give this wine opener to the oenophile in your life and they will love you for making wine opening stress free. $125 www.thedurand.com

#3 Engraved Languiole Corkscrews

This is an incredibly thoughtful and elegant gift for anyone who drinks wine. Laguiole corkscrews are considered to be the finest handmade waiter’s style corkscrew and the sleek designs are exquisite (Many to choose from!). Engraving the recipient’s name or an inspiring Latin quote makes this gift extra special! All Laguiole corkscrews come in a beautiful leather case and make for just the perfect wine gift! $149-$299 www.laguiole-imports.com

#4 World Atlas of Wine – Hugh Johnson Jancis Robinson

I am one of those people who still love a good old fashioned book and of the hundreds of wine books I own the 7th edition of The World Atlas of Wine is my favorite. Incredibly comprehensive and richly thorough this book is filled with up to date material and hundreds of vivid maps of all the wine regions around the world. An indispensable reference book for the wine geek in your life. $33 www.amazon.com

#5 Riedel Red & Black Amadeo Decanter

I discovered this gorgeous decanter while on a business trip in Hong Kong at Lane Crawford with my friend Sam. It was being promoted as a “Lane Crawford Exclusive” – despite the inconvenience in shipping it home we both fell in love and had to buy it. I cradled mine securely in my arms for the 14 hour flight home and was very disappointed to find the very same decanter being sold right here in the USA from Wine Enthusiast and $100 cheaper!! Despite being duped I absolutely love this decanter, its elegant, sleek design is just stunning and it pours your wine seamlessly. $475 www.wineenthusiast.com

#6 Wine
